Phoebe Russell’s top tips for shifting
We are back with Queensland Symphony Orchestra's Principal Double Bass, Phoebe Russell for a lesson on shifting. Phoebe shares her top three tips for shifting, including the use of arm weight, thumb position, visualising the note you're about to play, and using the bow to assist your left hand. It's an essential bite-sized lesson that is useful to any bassist (jazz or classical!) looking to improve their shifting technique.
If you enjoyed this lesson, why not check out Phoebe's full course, Left Hand Technique for the Advancing Bassist. It's available now and you can check it out here.
