In this lesson by Danny Ziemann we learn how to play walking bass lines with a more active (broken) two feel. This is a way to inject more energy into your bass lines, especially before walking in four. Think about keeping the accents and hiccups subtle as to not take away from the primary two feel. Ray Brown was the master of this rhythmically active two feel and his recorded work will provide numerous examples of this walking bass style.
This lesson is taken from Danny's new course 'The Bass Player's Guide to the Trio'. The course is 3.5hrs long and includes 50 video lessons.
I hope you enjoy the lesson. If you haven't seen one of Danny's lessons before please take a moment to welcome him to DDB in the comments section below and stay tuned for more of his lessons in future.
