Danny Ziemann

Jazz Double Bass Specialist

Danny Ziemann is a bassist and educator from Rochester, New York. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Danny has been freelancing regularly since the age of 16. He has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, and was the bassist in the first Focusyear Artist Diploma band. There he studied and played with luminaries including Larry Grenadier, Dave Holland, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jorge Rossy and others.

Danny also tours regularly with Gordon Webster, records session bass, and serves as a first-call bassist in Western New York. In both 2015 and 2017, he placed 2nd in the International Society of Bassists jazz bass competition.

In addition to a full performing schedule, Danny is a dedicated educator. His jazz bass method books, The Low Down Series, have been met with continued positive support in the bass community. These books have facilitated opportunities to engage as clinician at universities, high schools, and to present at various conferences held both in the US and abroad.  He teaches at SUNY Oswego, the Eastman Community Music School, and has previously taught jazz bass lessons at the Eastman School of Music.
