Arco & Pizzicato Study Piece by Geoff Chalmers
In this double bass lesson I teach you a study piece to improve your bow technique, intonation, shifting and hand shape. It uses open strings as drones that are played with a bowed melody.
The open strings are played pizzicato and provide a reference to help you monitor your tuning and create a new textures. When combined with the arco melody it creates a cool sound that’s quite unique.
I hope you enjoy this lesson and my study piece, if you have any follow on questions, lesson suggestions or feedback, please join the conversation in the comments section at the bottom of this page.
The transcription for this piece is included in the Lesson Guide.
