Dave Anderson’s 7 duets for double bass

Composed in 1996, Dave Anderson wrote this piece of music with humour in mind. Drawing inspiration from canine creatures, rush hour, Led Zeppelin and even his cat Gustav, it’s a really expressive and varied piece ranging all the way from a low C with an extension to the high harmonics. Both parts are intentionally equal and the melodies pass back and forth between both players. It’s an incredibly interesting piece that fuses multiple different styles and genres, and is brought to life by Nikita and Jamie in this video.

If you’re looking to get your hands on the sheet music, or to read more about the piece, follow this link to Double Bass HQ.
