Effects for Upright Bass

Pedal board tour with chris minh doky

In this video, we are back with our funk specialist, Chris Minh Doky, and we're talking all things electric upright bass. He gives us a tour of his pedal board and the different effects he uses when playing his Yamaha SLB300 Pro. At the end of the video, there is a wonderful improvisation by Chris based on the famous solo, Slang that Jaco Pastorius played with Weather Report. It's a great way to hear these effects in action, so don't miss it!

For those who want the specific models, here’s a list of what Chris is using in this video.

  • Top left – mixer for in-ear monitors to blend the bass with a monitor feed from FOH.

  • Bottom left – iDoru

  • Top right – MC6

  • Bottom right – HX Stomp

If you enjoy this video, be sure to let us know in the comments on YouTube and tell us about your pedals if you use any in your playing.
