Finger Replacements - Intonation Exercise

Finger Replacement for Beginners by Geoff Chalmers

In this preview lesson, DDB founder Geoff Chalmers teaches a simple exercise to practice playing with finger replacements to help with fingerboard navigation, intonation and shifting.

What are Finger Replacements?

When you have two consecutive notes, there is the option to play them using different fingers instead of keeping your hand in the same position. Using different fingers allows you to reposition your hand so that you're better prepared to play the notes that follow. This can improve your intonation and help you to navigate the fingerboard with ease. In this lesson, Geoff teaches a simple bass pattern using finger replacements. As you will see, it's a lot easier to play it in tune using them.

This lesson is a preview from Geoff’s course, Beginner's Double Bass, which has just been updated with 15 new lessons. More details of this update are below the video.
