Acclaimed jazz bassist Yuri Goloubev flies on planes a lot with his double bass and has been accident-free for many, many years. So we asked him about his tricks and tips to make flying with your bass as smooth and painless as possible, who to fly with, and what to say. Yuri Goloubev is a virtuoso double bassist who has worked in both the classical and jazz worlds. He has played worldwide at a huge number of concert halls and jazz festivals, with artists such as Bob James, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Gwilym Simcock, Pablo Held, Tim Garland, and Norma Winstone. Yuri recently released an album, 'Two Chevrons Apart', which features Tim Garland, John Turville, and Asaf Sirkis (Basho Records, 2020), and is also a teacher and professor of double bass at the Royal Welsh College of Music.
